Well, that changes from day to day and person to person. Generally though it's the knowledge that nothing bad is likely to come of it, and that love is always a good thing. And the faith that if I love enough people, then they will love more people, and the world will be a better place for it, even if it's in a small, little way.
Try thinking about the second commandment, that is what I do... Love your neighbor as yourself. Like April, I think that if you love more people, more people will obviously feel that love and want to spread it around.
I've found that when I'm thinking of someone I DO love, walking through the supermarket, even, people walking towards me smile and say hello.
And then, there's the knowledge of Grace. God loves me because God loves me. I can't earn or deserve it. When I remember that, I'm more loving to other people, and accepting of any of their tiny flaws, which always, otherwise, are glaring faults.

Trying to forget about my own needs - for a minute or two - helps. It's hard but I do manage to love other, though not as i would wish.
