Jesus, Not Prada

This is funny. And true.

It's not Prada but Christ that guides vestment choices, says paper

VATICAN CITY (CNS) -- Wearing ornate liturgical vestments symbolizes the spiritual transformation of the person wearing the clothes, not his love of fashion, the Vatican newspaper said.

"The priest does not choose such ornaments because of an aesthetic vice -- he does it to put on the new clothes of Christ," said an article in the June 26 edition of L'Osservatore Romano.

Liturgical vestments represent "dressing oneself anew in Christ" in which the priest "transcends his identity to become someone else," to become one with Christ
through a process of interior transformation and inner renewal, it said.

"The pop
e, in short, does not wear Prada, but Christ," it said.

Ugly vestments should be anathematized.

Honestly, she's my Presiding Bishop, but I hate her vestments. What season is that? Lenteradventecost?

I agree with the ++Katharine comment on her vestments. "Lenteradventecost" I love it. Though when she was here her vestments weren't too bad. They weren't pretty, but they weren't ugly either.

Though sometimes during Pentecost season which is green, they'll wear another color, and then not explain why. I mean, sure you can usually figure it out, but it would be nice if priests explain why they were doing it.

Hahaha, that's hilarious. When does "Lenteradventecost" happen? What do we do during that time? lol.
It would be nice to stick to traditional church season colors. Like April said, then there would be no confusion.

I like these colors, but not in vestments. What she's wearing seems more appropriate for, O, I don't know...Mardi Gras, Ringling Bros. clown? But I do like the "new liturgical season" you invented (it made me smile.) Maybe she's wearing this to save money on having to change vestments per liturgical seasons.

Hahaha...Yes, Ringling Bros. Eucharist. Oh, perish the thought...

James - Who knows? Dance naked around the altar to inclusive-language Gregorian chant?

I've seen this silly mitre about for months now and each time I lay my eyes upon it I can't imagine it wasn't invented in photoshop to embarrass her...

It is without doubt the worst in history.
