Weekend at the Monastery
This Saturday I went with some folks from church to visit St. Anthony's Orthodox monastery. It's a beautiful campus, situated eight miles outside of Florence, AZ. Florence is a tiny town about 40 miles southeast of Phoenix.
Episcopalian-flavored Christian with Anglo-Catholic proclivities and a yearning for social justice.
"When Anglicanism is at its best, its liturgy, its poetry, its music and its life can create a world of wonder in which it is very easy to fall in love with God." -Urban T. Holmes III
O Mary Magdalene, Paschal messenger and Apostle to the Apostles; Thy weeping in the garden hath been turned to joy, and thy myrrh hath become a holy chrism: Pray for us, that we also might encounter and trust in the Risen Christ, who maketh the tomb a bridal chamber for his Church, and hast taken away the sins of the world. Amen.

Lucky you! I've always wanted to visit there.
Beautiful place.
However, a desert monastery surrounded by palm trees is nearly an oxymoron!
These are such beautiful pictures, Eric. I have also always wanted to go there! I'm so glad you were able to.
Eric,
I'm glad you got to go to the monastery and I am curious about your experience there. I use to live in Vegas and know people who go there frequently.
